  1. What is Dallas Sports Federation? A comprehensive youth basketball academy dedicated to providing committed young athlethes  with the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game of basketball at a highly competitive level. 

  2. How does my son/daughter get on a DSF team? Register on our contact page and come to the tryouts. Tryouts are held quaterly and each player has a chance to make one of our teams.

  3. How many teams are there? There can be as many as 2 teams per age group that are selected by ability level during the tryouts. Coaches may also use other settings where they have seen the player as a part of the evaluation process.

  4. How is the age group determined? The current grade or age as of December 31st.

  5. What is involved in the commitment to a DSF team? It is expected that a player will make all the games and practices. There are always conflicts but mutiple absences can often disrupt a player and teams growth and development. Communication with the coaches is crucial about these items.

  6. What about the time involved? Teams will practice 1 or 2 times per week, depending on team selection. Academy teams will play in one local league per season and travel teams will participate in local leagues and additional weekend tournaments.

  7. What's the cost? The club fee is determined by the team you make. Parents will be presented with a cost sheet when tryouts have ended and final rosters have been formed.

  8. What are the goals? To compliment each young athlete's natural ability with the basketball training nessecary to handle the pressure of competition successfully.

  9. Does everyone play on a team? We have varying degrees of committment as well as programs for development. Some players will be placed in our individual development program which is a small group learning environment which meets weekly to learn the fundamentals of basketball in a low pressure environment.

  10. Do you make cuts? Yes and No. There are occasions where a athlete will not be selected for one of our competitive teams but recommended to our player development program. Our goal here is to equip each athlete with the basic fundamentals we see nessecary for competitive play. Each athlete will placed in the program where they have the best chance to grow, develop, and contribute. We will never turn a kid away who wants to learn in the game!

  11. Is there player movement between Seasons? It is our goal to make sure that players are in the right place to continue to grow and develop. In some cases to ensure the competitiveness of teams and continued development of players there will be possible realignment of players between seasons.

  12. What is the cost associated with DSF? We present the seasonal cost at our parental information meeting at tryouts. The cost calculated based on season length, levels of participation, coaches, gym rental fees, uniforms, etc.
